Community Free Shred Day

Community Free Shred Day

Community Free Shred Day is Saturday, July 25, 2020 from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM located at American National Bank. The bank is located at 3147 Ames Avenue, Omaha, NE 68111.  Thus, the free shred day is in the bank parking lot. Organizing a community event is a way to promote and raise awareness for privacy protection. A plea to all residents and the public to bring papers containing personal information to shred, free of charge.

Shred requirements:

First, no plastic, metal, or other non-paper items are to be in the shred materials. There is a need to remove staples, paperclips, binder clips, and rubber bands.

Second, customers must wear a face mask and remain in their vehicle due to COVID-19. Thereafter, shred volunteers will remove and dump items in the shred bins.

Third, and most importantly, two boxes or two bags of documents limit per customer. Also, the boxes or bags for each customer will be returned.

It is a good idea to shred old documents prior to discarding to prevent identity theft and fraud. The Community Free Shred day is a day to remove the paper clutter from your home. Moreover, this is the fastest way to easily shred sensitive personal and financial data without a paper shredder.

The event sponsors and hosts are Urban Financial Services, NONA, and Urban League of Nebraska Young Professionals.
