Pilgrim Baptist Church will have a Back to School Prayer for the children and youth on Sunday, August 14, 2022. The prayer for the upcoming 2022-23 school year, will be during the 9:00 AM morning worship service. The key focus will be on enhancing the lives of children and youth through Jesus Christ. Pilgrim’s vision is to ensure children and youth grow up safe, healthy, thrive spiritually, emotionally, and academically. During the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, we are prayerfully continuing to take measures to help keep our members and friends of Pilgrim safe. The Leola Jones Fellowship Hall per the CDC guidelines will be setup for social distancing. Thus, the service will be in the sanctuary.
What is the reason for the Back to School Prayer? The prayer is a shield for God’s children. As a result, this day is not just for our elementary, middle school, high school, and college students. This day is also for teachers, administrators, bus drivers, parents, and other family members to gather as one. This moment is an acknowledgment of what God can do in the lives of His children.
Prayer is the essential ingredient in starting a successful school year for all involved in the educational journey of a child. Due to COVID-19, the teachers, students, and parents are challenged with the demands of onsite or a virtual learning environment. Through the power of prayer and the trust in the Lord we foresee great accomplishments and achievements in the classroom and the community. Scripture teaches us in Proverbs 16:3 (MSG), Put God in charge of your work, then what you’ve planned will take place.
The experience of this school year will be ordinary to someone just starting out and uniquely different to an individual returning from a previous year. Philippians 4:6 states, Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Concentrate on learning and God will take care of your burden of worries. The church will continue to uplift, encourage, recognize, and pray for our children and youth. Together we win in the Lord’s eye.
